Caleb Hampton is a journalist from California. Caleb works as an editor at the newspaper Ag Alert, where he covers California agriculture. He previously covered higher education and the COVID-19 pandemic for his hometown newspaper, the Davis Enterprise. Caleb’s reporting on immigration, agriculture and the environment has appeared in The New York Times, the Guardian and other publications. He has won feature writing awards for stories about a soccer player and about corruption in India’s public school system undercutting efforts to educate rural students. Caleb has a master’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism. He is a 2025-26 Food Systems and Public Health Fellow at the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future. He lives in Davis, California.
